How We Met
It has been waaaay tooooo long since we posted what the Lord is doing. My goal continues to be one blog a month, so let's see how we do the rest of the year. On May 23, 2020, Rick and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary - only by God's grace!!! And in June, we were asked to share our testimonies, how we met and were God is calling us to (Missions). Below is the abridged version, and you can find the podcast and more, by clicking here.
How We Met...
Depending on who you ask, the background story may vary :) but one thing we completely agree on is that God brought us together.
[Rick] We met while serving at church, where we both were serving in children's ministry on Wednesday evenings. One day during worship (music), I noticed "her" singing and signing to the Lord. A few Wednesdays after, a 3rd grade class needed help, and I was asked to assist. That was the Wednesday we exchanged names, occupations and a few other particulars.
[Rick] After a couple weeks of serving together, I took courage and proceeded to ask "Aviana" out for coffee one Wednesday night, after serving. This was after a couple weeks of prayer and after she completely turned and walked away, the first I asked her.
[Avi] Coffee quickly turned into lunch plans for Monday, May 26th, 2014 at Anchos in Riverside. Conversation started serious, and I said dating was to find my husband: a man who loved the Lord more than I do and more than he would ever love me. Rick echoed, similarly. We then each drove over to meet at the Tyler Mall, grabbed a drink from The Coffee Bean and sat down at a table. Eventually, we walked out to our cars, and Rick took courage to ask me for a second date. I looked at him and said I would like that. As I got into my car, I gleamed over and said, 'By the way, you can call me Avi.'
And the rest, shall we say, is in the Lord's hands...
