Dallas Ye Hawww!
A fellow Swatian and I were
walking back from lunch at the a mall in Dallas Texas. I was late Saturday
afternoon and about to wrap up our day. When we see this young African
American man from afar sitting on a white bench alone. As we get closer
we notice he’s sharply dressed, wearing a navy blue suite, red tie and has his
earbuds on. He’s tuned out on what’s going on, but as we approach, My
Swatian cohort engages the young man and we introduce ourselves to him.
Anthony was his name, he was 25 and was very warm and welcoming. We told
him about harvest America and invited him to come out to the event. He
hadn’t heard of the event so we began to share what the event was about.
There was going to be a concert with a couple of Christian bands and following
that our pastor was going to be sharing the gospel. We explained that he was
going to be talking about God, and his Son Jesus. How he sent his one and
only son on a rescue mission to save us from our sin. We explained to him
how much God loves us and has a plan for every one of us. We asked him if
he went to church, and we quickly found out that he had been raised in the
church but people had let him down. He felt comfortable talking to us and
began sharing more about his situation. He was isolating himself from
everyone. He shared how relationships with women were empty and going nowhere.
The type of women he was attracting were bringing him down. He had been
doing drugs and hanging out with the wrong crowd. Nothing was bringing
him fulfillment. He was seeking deeper conversations with people and was
very guarded on who to spend time with. This allowed us to share the love
of Christ with him and share with him that all the things of this world were
only going to bring him a temporary satisfaction but never give him true
fulfillment. We shared the story about the women at the well. How
she isolated herself from people and was living an immoral life. Jesus
then offered her living water. He presented her with something that would
bring her complete satisfaction and worth. This made Anthony’s eyes light
up and he looked at my partner and myself and said, “that’s what I need” He
went on to show us the bags of merchandise he bought earlier at the mall and
told us that he just bought things to satisfy an earlier desire but now it was
no longer satisfying and was empty. We continued to let him know how much
Jesus wants a relationship with him and how he has a plan and a future for
him. We also shared if he put God first in his life, and seek him with all
his heart, mind, and soul that he would satisfy all his other needs.
Lastly, we asked him if there was anything holding him back from re-dedicating
his life with God, turning away from all the wrongs he had done and putting God
first? He said no, My fellow Swatian and I then knelt down closer to him
and before we can start praying, Anthony, started praying himself and asked God
to forgive him and to be number one in his life again. My Swatian
partner and I then took turns praying for Anthony to walk with the Lord
faithfully. There are no words to describe his emotions other than the
love of Christ had come into this young man’s heart and given him a new outlook
in life. Praise God for divine appointments!!!
